CUB began working with the charity following a meeting at an energy event in 2015. Facilities Manager, Andrew Gill said ‘As a charity, transparency is essential to us. It was apparent from our first meeting with CUB that they were open and honest. With an in depth knowledge of the energy industry, they also offered a wide range of services that could meet our requirements.
‘As a charity that advocates climate change, CUB have been mindful of the charity’s ethos and have ensured that our energy contracts are sourced from renewable energy. The team were knowledgeable, friendly and professional and we were kept informed every step of the way. CUB offered various options and made suitable recommendations ensuring the decision making process was simple and straightforward.
‘The outcome was extremely positive for Tearfund. CUB negotiated a 41% saving on our gas contract and an 8% saving on our electricity contract. This equates to an outstanding saving of £8500 over the contract period, a substantial saving for any organisation and a significant one for our charity. The more we save, the more money we have to continue the work we do’
Tearfund have a dedicated account manager as a main point of contact to manage their account and respond to their enquiries. CUB have also appointed a relationship manager who will make an annual visit to review contracts, look at current practises and offer available solutions. Services including consumption reporting, capacity review, installing smart meters, changing meter operators and data collectors have been adopted by Tearfund to help the charity make further savings.
With extensive charitable sector experience, CUB were also able to assist Tearfund with the paperwork to ensure the charity’s VAT and CCL exemptions were fulfilled so that they were billed accordingly.
Andrew Gill commented, ‘I feel that I have built up a good relationship with CUB and I would be happy to recommend them to other businesses and charities who are looking for value and support’
