Volatility returned to the market over the course of July with electricity and gas prices falling quite significantly at the start of the month before increasing towards the month’s close. Overall, the bull run at the end of the month was enough to see prices close at a higher level than where it started.

June was very much seen as a month of two halves for electricity and gas prices. Both commodities traded within a narrow range during the first half of the month before taking a significant downward shift for a few consecutive sessions around the mid-month mark.

Gas and electricity prices traded within a narrow range over the course of May as markets lacked any clear direction amid ever changing events over in the Middle East. Gas prices lost slight value over the course of the month whereas electricity prices saw relatively small increases.
