CUB literally stands for Commercial Utility Brokers; however, we stopped using our full name as we are more than just a broker; we help our clients with all aspects of energy.
We believe that due to the structure of our business, the fact that we are family-owned, our knowledge and experience in the market and our forward-thinking, our offering is unrivalled. We are passionate about delivering this service for years to come; having already been around for 30 years, we aren’t planning on going anywhere!

CUB are proud to share the news that we have become part of the Energy Consultants Association (ECA). As one of the first members to join you will now see our ECA Founding Member badge on correspondence from CUB.
The ECA was set up to provide an independent voice for Energy Consultants as well as to raise standards across the industry. The ECA commented the following on the involvement of CUB:

Founder
Royden established CUB in 1994 in his “back bedroom” using his background and experience in the energy sector. He set the foundations of the business as a family-owned organisation that serves customers to an exceptionally high standard. Sadly, Royden passed away in 2019, but his legacy lives on!
Director
Mike joined Royden in the “front bedroom” in 1996, and using his sales background, natural charm and outstanding ability to build rapport, he brought a significant amount of business through the door of CUB; many of these clients are still with us today!
Chairman
Jaqui joined CUB in 1999 and immediately made a significant contribution to the business; using her skills as a trained accountant, she brought the company into a new phase of life. Jaqui now provides an overarching view and acts as a soundboard for Louis Fairfax but isn’t actively operational day to day.
Managing Director
Louis started with CUB in 2005, so he has over 20 years of experience in the energy industry. Louis became MD of CUB in 2012 and has taken the business through a transition from a traditional energy broker to an energy consultancy firm now offering market-leading products.
Account Manager
Andrew started with CUB in 2010 and quickly became a successful telesales executive. Andrew was promoted to the position of Account Manager just a few years after that. He now manages a portfolio of customers and is renowned for his level of care in delivering service to his clients.
Account Manager
Rachel began working at CUB in 2010. She started as an Administration Assistant and excelled in this role, quickly resolving issues and making light of huge workloads! She now manages our biggest customers, including large multi-site portfolios, and she continues to get excellent feedback from our customers.
Financial Controller
James has been with CUB since 2012. He is responsible for all things finance at CUB and has led many projects, continually improving how we manage, operate and measure our success as a business. James also delivers compliance services such as SECR and Exemption Analysis services to our clients.
Portfolio Manager
Sam started with CUB in 2012, and his attention to detail and interest in the more complex aspects of energy contracts has led him to manage our flexible purchasing contracts, building up an extensive reserve of experience in this side of the business. Sam also manages a portfolio of fixed-priced customers, regularly receiving 5-star reviews on his service.
Relationship Manager
Emma began working at CUB in 2012 as a Relationship Manager based in Sheffield when Mike Fairfax stopped working in a customer-facing role. With some big boots to fill, Emma stepped in and impressed our clients with her attentive and no-nonsense approach to managing the relationships for our northern clients. She has strengthened the bond that CUB has with our longest-standing clients.
Market Analyst
Ash has worked at CUB since 2014 in the role of Market Analyst. He is responsible for the tendering and negotiation of supply contracts, liaising with suppliers day to day who tell us that he does an excellent job in nurturing these essential relationships. Ash also manages a portfolio of customers, bringing his extensive knowledge of pricing and negotiations into this critical role.
Market Analyst
Adam has been with CUB since 2015. His background in IT has been instrumental in developing our pricing and negotiation systems and processes, ensuring that we can deliver the best service to our clients. He manages his own portfolio of customers who consistently provide excellent feedback on his service.
Operations Manager
Justin began his career at CUB in 2008. His responsibilities cover support on all operational aspects of CUB including facilities, IT and more recently is the lead for the operation of our Flexibility Schemes such as Reduction Rewards. Justin’s unwavering commitment to “getting things done” at CUB makes him an invaluable part of the team.
