Recognition for Time Well Spent
The hard work of the Green Team was honoured with an invitation to the Fenland District Council’s 2016 Street Pride Celebration Evening. This was an event to honour the community work undertaken for the March in Bloom and March Street Pride projects.
CUB were one of the major organisations such as Tesco and Sainsbury who supported the Street Pride scheme but we were the only business that physically got involved. The Green Team have been out in all weathers picking litter, clearing neglected areas of land, planting bulbs and flowers to help make March a lovely place to live and work.
There were over 100 volunteers in attendance and a drinks reception, followed by a dinner, was enjoyed by all. The evening continued with an award ceremony where March Street Pride won Best Partnership Project. It’s so good to know that the continued efforts of the Green Team contributed to this award.
Awards are very nice but one thing we know about our Green Team and their ‘can do’ attitude is that they are happy to offer their time to work hard for no recognition. It’s not the acknowledgement that drives them forward, it’s seeing the results of their hard work in the areas they transform and in the faces of the local community when they see a beautiful display of spring bulbs or summer blooms and a street or park free from litter.
Their philanthropic attitude knows no bounds and if they can help make their local town a better place, they will find a way to do so, with bells on! So well done Green Team you are amazing!
